We have an 06' Commander with 12,000 miles on it. owned it a little over a year now. We keep receiving letters in the mail stating that our factory warranty is soon to expire.
And that we really should consider purchasing an extended one for about $800.00
My Sportages that I owned were always 10 years/100,000 miles.
We are a bit confused on this matter. Me and the wife were discussing this today over coffee and breakfast. I said that we should NOT get it. She thinks that we should.
...............Any opinions as to what we should do???
I told her that I would write you guys!

Wait a minute, I thought the minimum factory warranty from Chrysler was 3 year 30,000 miles.

We keep getting them also. They are not from Chrysler, but from a third party company. Personally, I wouldn't get it, but your situation may be different.

I think them 3rd party insurence sellers will hound you as long as you own that vehicle.. I know they are still hounding me. As many letters as I get about auto warranty insurence... it makes me think they are making a LOT of money on selling it. I never have purchased it.. I think most new vehicles now have a 100K warranty...don't they? ANY insurence is just a gamble on both party's part. I prefer to take my own chances. One of my wifes Suburbans had an engine replaced at 10K under factory warranty... I THINK it was a 1990 or so. I purchased her a new one every year around that time. Modern vehicles sure seem to last a loooong time don't they? Big JIm

Only owned it a year and only 12,000 miles? Most remanned engines have a warranty at least that long. It's hard to believe that your warranty is almost expired.
Did you buy it new?

yep we are getting those as well, ignore themm and toss them in file 13 like I do. The first one we got i almost split a side because it was to me. I asked my wife "Honey did you know the factory warrenty ran out on my jeep"(89 xj for the record)We got a really good laugh out of that.then she received one and we laughed again because we bought the extended warrenty. If anything they are good for a laugh.

I recently purchased a 07 wrangler and the lowest warranty available was the 3year 36k. i asked for the lowest warranty because i am going to void it anyway. i was told that is jeeps standard warranty.
I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6

You are correct sir!
We will void our warrenty also
I like the part where Big Jim says, "Don't those American warrenties seem to last a long time?"
Or something to that affect.......
