I don't think my ash tray has ever had actual ashes in it - but it's a great place to contain loose change, rnadom bolts, candy... all kind of crap that would get thrown around as soon as you leave pavement.
i liek teh idea of starting w/ a fresh flat console plate though, now you can lay it out however you want.

Wow, you're really getting there Corey.
With all the little electronic gadgets out there, you might consider putting in a cig lighter, if not for anything else, for a solar battery charger or something. I use the one in the back of my '99 quite a bit; mostly for air pump for camping mattresses or small air compressor.
Just a thought; what do the boys think of this project? I know ya keep 'em busy! exactly .. I am going to use the 2 accessory ports from the original 4Runner .. I did keep the wiring intact for those for exactly the reason you mentioned . 1 in the front (dash) and 1 in the rear . I don't think my ash tray has ever had actual ashes in it - but it's a great place to contain loose change, rnadom bolts, candy... all kind of crap that would get thrown around as soon as you leave pavement.
i liek teh idea of starting w/ a fresh flat console plate though, now you can lay it out however you want. no ash trey , I want the room for "other things" . I know what you mean about the "little things" being tossed in the ash trey , my DD is the same . I have thought about this , and I am going to be building a center console .. so I will have the room there , as well as cup holders not set on the lay out of the dash yet , I just know for sure , where the heater controls are going .. .

made the Left lower dash plate today .. in the same manner as the right.. hammered out a piece , and welded it together . Last piece is the center piece . Then I can start to make the "cutouts" for the switches and such . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1433.jpg) .

not much to add ...
have been "tinkering" on it every "now and then" . I have pulled off the back 1/2 again .. because I wanted to wire the LAST pieces .. pump and sender .. pump works awesome , sender NO .
1 of the issues is the fuel warning lamp . /83 dosnt have .. /99 does (dash cluster)
I dont know of any way to wire this issue .. so I'm going to have to use a /99 fuel tank sender and build my own sending unit .
under way
.

got the sender done today ... here's what I had to do ... first I made the top , just cut it out of some 12G scrap I had ..then I drilled the mount holes .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1439.jpg) trimmed , and finished to a perfect circle (well maybe NOT perfect . I had a few difficulties figuring out the support .. because the hole on the tank is so small .. there was definatly some "grey matter working " but I got er' figured !! the mount support , off-set to fit into the smaller hole ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1442.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1443.jpg) and with a little "massaging" I was able to finally "roughly" mount the sender , and stuff it into the tank . once I was able to fit it .. I needed to support it . so I made some little brackets , and drilled and tapped the support holes . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1444.jpg) this is a pic of the sender as it came out of the /99 is tank .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1445.jpg) and after cutting the original mounts and ground off .. heres what I have now .. with the new clips new ground wire and main support I made . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1446.jpg) and all together ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1447.jpg) and mounted and tested .. it works YEAAAAAH !!!! ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/MY%20Trekker/HPIM1448.jpg) so now I want to send it out for anadizing .. then I will seal the wires .. .
