Mine's (as most) is an volt meter. Not very accurate, of course. Still, if the amp meter is not working you have 2 choices. Bad meter, bad connection. After checking in my stolen 1963 Stockel Auto Mechanics fundamentals book from Spencerport High School (yes, I AM that old), volt meters are connected in parallel with a circuit. Ammeters are connected in series with the circuit. Therein may be your problem. ps, ohmmeters are connected in parallel with the load with the negative side of the load unconnected to the power source. If you want, I can make a copy of this info and forward via email. If everyone wants, I can figure out (again) how to post the book info on the site. ps, this book is so old it SMELLS old.

not sure , but I believe you have to upload it to a host site first , I use photobucket for my pics , but not positive on a word file ?

so no luck so far ..
I'm hesatent to run for any length of time , as its running very rich .. and I'm worried about piston melting !!

I tested the MAS today .. and very close to spec. but just off a bit .. I'm wondering if it's my OHM meter ? I dont know ! The OBD11 code suggests otherwise .

I phoned Darren at White Valley Collision , where I originally bought the engine package , and he has willingly "stepped up to the plate" to replace the piece . AWESOME service !!! and a GREAT guy to deal with !!

new/used MAS is on the way ..

this is basically the LAST thing before I can tear it down for paint .. Paint is here , so I'm wanting to get this wrapped up !!!

worked on it for a few mins today .. my buddy Paul came over to help ..
replaced the MASS .. and no change .. checked olm values .. and both the same ..

After Paul left , I ran the Trekker up to temp .. .. even got the new fan "pushin air " .. I'm very pleased with that aspect .. as engine temp. stayed @ 1/2 guage . I assume it's 195* but didnt actually check .. I did check heater opperation , and both front and rear were blowing HOT .. so all is good there smile

so basically I'm stuck here ..

My "rich" running engine either boils down to a harness issue .. or computer issue ...
my OBD11 reader has =

getting a code P0110 Air Intake Temp. sensor 1 circut ... which from what I understand this sensor is incorporated in the MASS ..

I replaced the MASS with another .. and same symptom , same code .. cleaned both .. same thing with both .

I have also pulled out code P0172 = system running to rich bank 1 . and P0100 Mass or volume air flow A circut .

so I'm totally confused now ?

I'm going to check harness integrety , dont think this is it , but I will check it to the computer plug .. then the computer is the last option , but ... no test -- correct ? just replace ?

talked to Daren (white valley collision ) and he dosnt have another computer .. I really hope I dont have to spend another G note for a computer !!

Presuming you'd use the same ECU as the US, wring that one out before looking for another one Corey.

Remind me again which engine is in there now please. The 'bank' thing has me thrown off. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Might be a question to ask over on customtacos or yotatech, alot more 5vz users over there.
Is the MAF and the ECU all from the same truck?

yes ALL the "stuff" is from the same year = /99 (or so i'm told). engine was originally an ATM from a 4Runner . everything else was from a /99 Tacoma MTM . only thing I have done to the engine , is swap the ATM harness for the MTM harness , and add the supercharger , and of course the crossover ..
I'll have to hit toydiy and start comparing part #'s as well .

toyota changed MAF's and o2 sensors in 1999. The MAF pinout may be wrong. Gadget at URD knows all about it, try asking him.
