popped the new valance out today ..
I like it ...



also POR-15's the fender/valance mounts , as well as a bunch of other stuff .. but here's those pieces



Teardown is continueing



time to remove the wire harness

started working on the doors and inner trim panels .. got the inner of the doors cleaned up , and just about ready to prime .. also started on the trim panel

started with a flat sheet of fiberglass



marked it and trimed it to fit
I was going to have it 2 seperate pieces , like the stock panel , but my "mid speakers are to big ... there is a small "step" in the door panel anyway .. so cutting it and re glassing it will achieve a perfect fit with NO rattles .

so .. waiting in the shop today (my day off) for a customer to show up for some pieces .. I decided to clean up the headlamp buckets and mounts ..

dissmantled them .. and did some sandblasting



and all the regular cleaning .. and such .. and some POR-15 on these as well .. also while I was at it , I polished up the headlamp rings and hardware

got a little work done on the door panels the last few days .. building the speaker enclosures has been the most time consuming , but should pay off in the long run .
Instead if just cutting a hold in the door and mounting the speaker on top , I wanted to "enclose" the speaker in it own "pod" so the sound coming out of it is just that much better .. so I was thinking on how to do this .. building custom moulds would take to long .. and i'm really wanting to press on !!!!

so I decided to start looking for a mould already build which I could utalize .. started pulling bowls out of the cupbords and measureing for size , looking at all kinds of things I could use , even went to wallmart and searched for aplicapble forms . I ended up going to the dollar store , and finding a perfect size plastic dog dish for $1.50 and a smaller cat dish for $1.25 .

started making my pieces ..
so I have 4 mids and tweeters going in .. 2 front 2 rear .
I needed 6 bigger pieces , and 4 smaller pieces ..



so after I figure the speaker placement .. started to fit it all together .. cut the door metal to fit the "pods" and glassed the rear portion into place





cut down and prepped the new set of moulded pieces to fit the speakers



and all mocked up





ready for some foam and leather to finish !!!

did a little clean up on the wiper motor at lunch time today ..

pulled it apart and cleaned everything up



didnt have to paint anything .. except the alum. housing.. and the assy. screws.
acid diped and then bead blasted .. and then clearcoated



all back together ..

I was able to start stripping everything out of the cab .. prepping to remove the cab for inner paint ..



Wire harness is also now out .. so I can finish with saldering the joints and loom/tape .

So what is your plan with the rear topper? It's not really designed to come off, is it? Will youglue/glass it in, or make it removablle 4Runner style?

I was going to "make" it removable .. but i'm running out of time .
