Interesting news on the parts availability - I guess I should call some dealers. I think part numbers can be had fairly easily.
The fuel pickup filter I used is a Carter STS-79. The line is SAE (closest equivalent to the metric on the pump armature) as are the fittings. I've always had good luck using SAE lines in place of metric, often swapping the fittings from the old lines if I need them (in the case of brake lines etc.)
Hope this is useful for you.

I've done that also. I replaced the whatever milimeter steel brake lines with 3/16 hard line and it fits perfectly, reusing the old metric fittings.

A little progress this weekend. Finally got my transmission mounts welded together. http://www.plammer.com/plammer/isuzu/DSCN0253.JPGhttp://www.plammer.com/plammer/isuzu/DSCN0254.JPGI need to get some paint on them and drill the holes that will hold them in the frame. Next on the list is to deal with the rear drive shaft and figure out what I'm going to do for a radiator. I'm thinking I'll try to find a c223 Trooper radiator and have it recored. Depends on what I can find. My neighbor has a '96 Acura which is just a rebadged Trooper and I've poked around it some. I believe the transmission mounting issue and motor mount issue I've endcountered would be a nonissue in the '92+ body style. His V6 motor mounts are identical to what my motor came with, the transmission mount setup looks identical as well. If I had it to do over again, I'd pick up a newer body style. I'm partial to the box style though. Too late now I'll get some more pictures when I get the brackets on the truck and the transmission situated. Paul

Hi Mark, I'm in the same boat for the wiring diagram. I plan on digging around some UK sites to see if I can purchase the Isuzu manuals for my motor, I think that would be your best bet as well. When/if I find anything, I'll post that info.
Have fun with the conversion. Hope what I've posted helps you in the process.
On the progress of my project, I did get the transmission brackets mounted and the transmission is now oficially attatched. I also got the gas tank back in and routed new fuel lines on the driver side of the frame opposed to the passenger side where the gas lines ran. All this to avoid running the fuel lines near the exhaust/turbo in the engine bay. I also removed the petrol motor ECU and the related wiring as well as removed the EGR setup. My current tasks are getting the new rear drive shaft taken care of, sourcing a radiator and making a new suspension brace as the original interferes with the oil pan.
I keep getting excited about the progress I'm making only to then realize there are many little details that I have yet to take care of. All just a matter of time...
Paul

Boy I know that feeling....
For me, I felt like I was making real fast progress doing the big stuff. Crossmember, steering, suspension, clutch....that sort of stuff. When I got to the nittty gritty, wiring, fuel lines, coolant lines, etc. it seemed to take forever. For three weekends, I thought; Ok, I'll be driving it today.... After three weeks of that, I got it running. It was two more before I got to drive it.....
The small stuff will drive you nuts.
Sounds like yours is going along smoothly though <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

A little more progress to date. I have my new radiator installed (Perf. Radiator did great work), still working on a hose for the bottom. Through a miscommunication, the bottom fitting isn't exactly aligned with the engin, so I need to make a "Z" type bend. I've ordered metal flex hose from Summit, we'll see if that does the trick. (I couldn't find a universal rubber flex hose short enough). With that, I'll have the cooling handled. I need to install the fuel filter and transmission cooler and fill fluids, charge the AC, etc. Then tackle wiring mess. That should be interesting. I'm hoping to at least start it in a few weeks. Lingering issues that I'm saving for last are the suspension cross member and the rear driveshaft. Neither should be too bad, just a matter of dealing with them. I see the end of the tunnel, just making slow progress at this point. I need to take a vacation from work to focus on the Trooper . Paul

Even though I have the car running, registered, and on the road, I'm still ironing out the little things. I had the engine and tranny setting in the car and running in three days. It just took 2 months of splicing wires and hoses to get it running correctly. I'm still sorting ot the last few bugs. The thing wants to slowly overheat a little at 70 mph with the AC on. I picked up a Turbo I Mark radiator at Jerry's this week to see if that helps. It could be as simlIe as a stuck thermostat. It will get a 2 1/4 " exhaust soon. Still trying to improve the milage. Paul, did you see how I elimenated the in tank fuel pump? I replaced it with a short section of steel tubing with a filter sock on it to help screen the trash. ![[Linked Image]](http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c369/Curtis-J/89%20I%20Mark/DSC00426.jpg) It can be removed and the pump re-installed if need be. The little white screen is a GM part. Curtis

Absolutely true on the small stuff (as in, not requiring heavy lifting of drivetrain parts) taking up the most time. I am almost three years into my project and still not done. Granted, I am slow and very busy with other things, but still... it's almost embarrassing.
Paul - let me know if you can't find wiring information. I think I have some later Isuzu factory manuals with diesel sections I can send you. Honestly, though, if you are not trying to connect the QOS system, all you need are the fuel cutoff and alternator connections. The rest you can find in the ETM for your chassis.
Curtis - that's the way I did my pickup tube, as well. Pretty straightforward.

Heh, I started in on the wiring for the transmission this weekend. I have the entire harness from the donor vehicle and I started untaping the main portion of it that I need. I've traced the transmission ECU connector to the engine and transmission plugs that I'll need. As much as I wanted to, I avoided cutting out what I think is not needed. I need to double and triple check my work before I start cutting.
My key concerns at this point are 1) the QOS system, I guess that's the glow plug control and 2) the instrument to gauge wires. Just need to spend some time with them next. I'm fine with having a push button for the glow plugs, my main concern is if removing that portion of the wiring will cause the transmission ECU to sense a fault of some sort. Probably not, but I'm not sure yet. Playing it safe for now.
Thanks for the offer on the wiring Adrain. Between the manual you sent me and a later model manual I downloaded off an a different site, I think I have it covered. I'll know more in the next week. More to come...
Paul
