Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, my motor is in the US and on it's way to me. I should have it end of next week.

Still having difficulty finding a source of timing belts. I'm currently trying some outfits in UK to see what I can get. The motor seems to be common over there, just a matter of finding a reputable dealer that will ship to the US.I'll let everyone know my source when I actually get my hands on one.

My contact at Jarco said he's also sending a motor to someone in Cali as well, hope he/she finds their way to this site as well.

More to come.

Ouch, I just did the math to convert from GBP to US dollars. Timing belt kit and water pump look to be about $500 USD from the UK. From what I can find, the prices quoted are roughly the going rate over there.

I guess I'll try getting a quote from AU and see if that hurts any less.

I have been talking to Autolink UK for a while now. They are very helpful and know their stuff. New water pump w/gasket, new t-belt w/tensioner, and a handfull of oil filters is a little less than 400.00 (USD) shipped to my door. I'm just waiting for them to get back to me on how to make payment and I'll be placing an order. I'll let you know how it works out.

Price may be a little steep....I don't know.....it's worth it to me though to just have the parts show up at my house and not have to run all over and work the phones getting blank stares everywhere I go

My motor is supposed to be delivered today. I'll start the removal of the petrol motor Friday or Sat. My hope is to get the diesel and tranny bolted into the body on Sunday, but we'll see if things go that smooth.

I talked to a distributor of generators that utilize 4JG1 engines here in the Seattle area. While those use timing gears, he may be able to get me a water pump and timing belt from Isuzu if I get the numbers off the original parts. He has a catalog that lists 4JG2's, but there were multiple options. The goal is to take the original numbers and order them. We'll see if that pans out.

More to come.

I ordered my t-belt/tensioner, water pump and oil filters from Auto link the other day. 400.00 for all to my door and they use paypal so that was easy. Now just the waiting part.....

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Current status: I took Friday off and pulled the original engine and transmission. I figured 8 hours (by myself) and ended up with 13 hours and some assistance from a friend. I spend half of Sat getting the motor from a friend's shop where it was delivered and into my garage. What a mess of stuff Jarco included. They really included everything from the donor vehicle I could possibly need. I didn't get as far as fitting the diesel in on Sunday as I ran into issues.

The two problems so far:
1) there are no hoist hooks on the motor, how do I lift it without removing the intercooler and other stuff that might get messed up by attaching chain to the sides of the motor? I'm thinking using the rear of the block (transmission removed) and the motor mounts with chain attatched to some sort of triangle bracket attatched to the hoist(to keep the chain from angling in and messing up the stuff on top of the motor). Just a matter of having a strong bracket made for me. Any suggestions?

2) the motor mounts are different on the motor than what I pulled off the petrol motor. It appears the original setup will bolt on the driver (US) side of the motor, but the passenger side is questionable. It appears that I could use the diesel motor bracket with the petrol motor mount. My concern with this is that the original mount has one bolt connecting the mount pad to the engine bracket, the diesel mount has two. Mixing the two looks like it should work using one bolt, but it concerns me to use one when the diesel originally used two. Any suggestions on that one?

Let me know if anyone has suggestions on either of these two issues.

Paul
