I searched...

I have a blown transmission from my bros 93 RS trooper sitting in the garage, and the rear output is a fixed flange style deal. Can i replace the rear of my slip yoke transfercase with the rear of his, on my 1990 pickup?

Thanks
Joel

The back half will physically bolt to your case; but you have the swap the "innerds" ( ) as well. Or if you have Tera Lows, you will have to buy the other set for the fixed yoke rear output. Some info on the topic, and a pretty detailed alternative in this thread:

DIY Fixed Yoke Rear Output

I did this combined with a spare fixed yoke cover I had sitting around to get our '89 RS converted to fixed yoke.

I knew it could not be that easy..

Say that I do not have Teralow's at this point, and lets just say that I really want them haha. Would I have to shell out for both the fixed yoke and the slip yoke version to swap over the fixed yoke rear, or can i just get the fixed yoke Teralow's and be good?

Thanks for the help, I saw mclarks conversion when I searched, I will probably end up doing that, if this doesnt work out.

later
Joel

Since you have a donor fixed yoke case to rob parts out of; my understanding from reading through the second thread is that you can get by with just the fixed-yoke Teras.

This is what I did. I ordered Tera's for the fixed yoke and from my donor case used the fixed yoke rear cover and hi-lo gear, shift collar, and brass synchros.

Excellent, Thanks guys. It sounds like I might have bigger problems to deal with now. Awful grinding sounds in the transmission . Oh well, thats the one part of this truck that i havent torn apart yet.

Thanks again for the help.
