yah you should have kept your raptor...I have a 1986 Honda TRX250R and I won't sell that thing for the rest of my life, took me 2 years to find one of those quads. I will never own a 4-stroke for as long as I can. 2-stroke is where its at.

Since my 4d is almost here, I am revisiting this thread. Tom, if you're still checking here, where would you recommend one getting a bike hauler from? My bike is the 08 KLR, which is around 400# or so. Do you think license plate relocation and aux magnetic trailer lights would be necessary to keep it legal? My hitch is frame-mounted and also mounts to the center, so it should be plenty strong. Rated for 500# tongue weight. Oh, what about upper strapping? Maybe strapped to a roof rack, or is there a better way? And finally, do some carriers come with ramps - lifting the KLR onto the carrier is not an option, unless some of the boys are around, and even then it'd be awkward...

www.prohoist.com makes some great CHEAPER carriers. i have one.
It comes with ramp and hooks to tie down. i use Motorcycle (dirtbike) tiedowns. for the bars and than i just use rubber bungee to hold the rear wheel.

Wow, some great info, and great pics, oh and great bikes! I went to their website, and noticed that their max weight is 400#s. Full tank of fuel and my bike is 420. Think I'm pushing it? How much flex do you get on the hitch? Looks like that may be the ticket for me... case in point, just got a recall notice for the big K, don't really wanna ride it into Calgary at the moment, plus having to get a ride home, etc. With that bad boy I just slap it on the back and go!

Did you buy from the site you posted? How much did shipping run you, if you remember? Maybe I'll check Princess and see if its anywhere close to the same thing...

flex? very little. they have a square bracket that bolts down to stop any twisting of carrier...brilliant.

i did buy direct. they can be found on ebay too.
