Yeah It could be the alt/batt. I once drove home from uwharrie just on my battery. It was like 500 miles.
I started out and made it about 250 miles before we noticed a problem. We were driving along and the radio went out, about a minute later it died.

So we were towed to a autozne where we had the alt checked.
They said it was bad, so I bought/installed a new one.
After charging batt, we were off again.

We made it about another 250 miles and made it 10 miles from home when the radio went out again <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />.

So we got a ride home to pick up a charged battery, and she cranked right up and drove home.

I later found out that the white alt wire was bad, right at the connection between the battery and the alt.
I had a long winch pull at uwharrie and I think thats what killed it.
