Depending on how serious the leak is, yes, it could cause those symptoms.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well I work 2 days this week so I'm sure I'll get a little dirty under it this week and find out. Thanks for the help Jim

Ya the more I think about it the more I think it's a fuel line leak. I just finished the body lift a couple weeks ago and maybe stressed a line, coupled with the cold weather lately.

I'm new to the trooper but not to fuel injection. this truck should have an adjustable fuel regulator right? If so check it, pull the vaccum line going to intake manifold. Have someone turn it over with it unplugged from the manifold and if it spits fuel at you, you found the probelm. I had a camaro that did the same thing and would only fun with high revs and would bog out quick. The other problem could be ignition timing or like you stated a fuel leak.

Don't think so. I believe it's built into the TBI. While it can be adjusted (to my knowledge) it's not an easily done thing.

Hmmmmm, well I was wrong with a busted fuel line. Fuel pressure is fine. I tried to start it again today and had a little engine fire, always exciting. So I realized that the engine was getting enough fuel just not burning it, well the way an engine should burn it and all (in the combustion chamber). I pulled the plugs and they're so fouled. I think that maybe when I did the Holley TBI it must have been running really rich? Which would cause this? I'll take a look at the TPS voltage tomorrow and make sure, I confess that I didn't do this when I installed it because the truck seemed to run just fine after a couple days. Still when it was cooled it would idle at 2000rpm for about 5 min then settle in around 11-1300. I'm now guessing this is the problem. Will know more soon, ya'll think this could be it? I was kinda hoping the engine was toast (way in the back of my head) to force me into a 3.4 swap... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Well the voltage was pretty close with the tps, I replaced the plugs and checked the oil. The oil is full of fuel. I'm guessing this engine was just super flooded. I noticed that one of the injectors was leaking, drip drip drip. I just got this holley tbi on ebay and it has a pooched injector, it was brand new. Guess it must have gotten a little screwed up during shipping? Whatever, anyway an injector goes for $300 at the parts store, anyone know where I can get a cheaper one?

Found a place to get a remanned one for $100 with the core. So my next question is do I need a holley injector? or will one for the original TBI work???

Were you using the Holly injectors? If so, that is your problem. The 3.4 injectors are WAAAAAY too big for the 2.8.

To answer your questions:

No, you don't need a Holly injector.
Yes, you probably can use the 2.8 injectors.

You should also be able to find new injectors at less that $100. There are several 2.8/3.1/3.4 S-10/Camaro sites that sell them. I don't know of one off the top of my head.

Good Luck,
Michael

Hmmm, ya I was using the holley ones, didn't realize they were that much bigger or that I should have swapped my other injectors on to it when I did the TBI swap. So Should I replace the one that isn't leaking while I'm at it then, to prevent further fouling?
