Looking to put bigger mirrors on our 98 2x Tacoma.(not prerunner) Are the larger 4x mirrors a bolt on swap?
TIA

That's a good Q. for as spendy as they are, I think I'd crosscheck the part numbers at the dealer to make sure whether they were or not before going online or the junkyards for them.

Yes, they should be a bolt on swap.

Hmmm, I thought the TRD package mirrors were the larger ones...because some that I wheel with have small mirrors and they are 4WDs???

Yep. Mines got the bigger mirrors.

I actually broke down and called the stealership about this. They didn't have any pictures to look at but the part number for the TRD mirror is different from the other(and more expensive) which is the same for 2x and 4x. Thereby, I conclude the TRD's are the bigger mirror.
NOW... who's got a pair for sale at a lot less than the $136 my dealer wants?!
Thanks, Edy

Part #'s

L 99-01 TRD mirror 87940-35531

Sorry that's all I have for now.

1st Toyota doesn't list the TRD mirror. However, I found an easier solution and it was so stupidly obvious. I finally got off my rear and went out in the freezing rain and discovered that my 98 4RUNNER mirrors fit the 98 Taco just perfectly and they are nice and BIG. Also way easier to describe to some parts jockey.
