Hello. I have my 91 Trooper, with the 2.6, 5sp. I finally got the paperwork straightened out to get the title. I decided to take it thru DEQ (Oregon) so that I could get at least a temporary trip permit. I failed DEQ because of high hydrocarbons. I figured that was because it sat for so long and hasn't had the oil changed since when. I decided to do a quick tune up - cap, rotor, air filter, pcv, plugs and then get the oil changed.
Now here is where I experienced some problems. First, I could not get the rotor off. I tried to pull it straight off but no luck. Any ideas? Second, when I went to change the spark plugs, they were coming out hard. I managed to get 2 of them changed, and lucky that they did not pull the threads out with them. The other 2 won't hardly even budge, even with a breaker bar. That is when I stopped before I did screw up the treads. I was wondering if I could just fill those plug wells with WD-40 and let it sit for a few days, and would it hurt anything? any other ideas on how to remove stubborn spark plugs without messing up the threads? So far these are relatively small problems and I don't need them to turn into expensive major problems.
Thank you.
