I poked at the light grey rubber pad with a screwdriver and it did feel soft, not hard or dry rotted. I was out in the woods today and was able to use the 4wd and it worked fine. No hard "kunk" sound like before. !?! I was being cautious though, no heavy loads or rough driving. My brother mentioned the loud lifter noise. He thought it was a diesel.
