I live in Denver-ish. I was currious if There would be any bennifit to bumping the timing up a little? It doesn't knock or anything with the current stock settings with 85 octane. What should I expect if I bump it up? I don't want to screw up the computer, but would like to get the most out of the motor.
Does anyone know the limit to timming advancement. I for shure don't want to pass it.

I see you have some tweaked cams on your rig; you might want to give this article a good reading and see what you think. Might not be exclusively a timing issue, those this would affect it. EB might like this one. Degreeing a camIf you decide to start messing with the timing, I would strongly suggest you take a before and after reading; remember your jumper--- so if it's messed up, you can at least whip the gun out along side the road to reset it back to a more agreeable setting. Stock tires or no?

I remember reading that a while back. I was planning on keeping the wrench, jumper and the timming light in the truck. "Just in case" I thought there was another article on here about Timming and I can't find it. Something about finding where the engine "pings" then back it off a couple degrees, and thats where your max power/efficiancy is. I though EB wrote it but I'm not sure so don't hold me on it. I like where My power band is now. So I don't see the need for "tweaking" the Cam. FYI...I'm running 31's x 10.5. I know I should regear to ~4.88 but don't have the funds. Try searching for "timing" rather than "timming"...
Not trying to be the spelling police, but correct spelling usually helps when searching.

Open up your viewing in the Toyota Tech archives; likely you'll find it there.
