Hold on a minute. Are you saying that I could take the engine out of a Caravan (yes, I think they did have a 2.6 at one time. Was it the same Mitsu engine?) Are you saying that I could take a transversely mounted engine, turn it 90?, and mount it into a rear wheel drive vehicle?

That would be terrific. There are many more of the Caravans with auto trans than there ever were Monteros. More of them failed because of the transmission than because of the engine. If that is in fact possible, my chances have increased immeasurably.

Can anyone say with fair certainty that a Caravan 2.6 could mount in a Montero? What about one of the v-6 engines from a Caravan?
