Need a Spot
About 3 months ago the flex plate in my sons 96 trooper broke. I got a new flexplate (6 hole) from Jerry. I replaced the Torque Converter(3 Studs) Put new line up dowels in.(There was one missing) Put in factory bolts and replaced the bushing in the end of the crank. I bought the Trooper used and the flex plate broke within a week. Now the flex plate is broke again. There has to be something that is not lined up. The engine was replace at sometime in the rigs life. Help, I need some ideas.

Contact Jerry. He can tell you all of the possibilities. I have NEVER heard of a flex plate failure in an Isuzu before.

Good luck.

if your starter is not lined up/shim correctly it could be pushing the plate and breaking it,also if there isn't enough shims to put it far enough away,it could be binding the flex plate as it turns(because flex plates aren't 100% round) just a few ideas.

The starter thats a interesting thought. Keep the Ideas coming. Are there specs on the starter? What if the new engine was originally a manual transmission are there different starters between autos and manuals?

Not sure,a parts store could probabley help answer that quickly,If there was a diameter difference in the flywheel and the flexplate, that could cause an issue.
