While you are technically correct, the easy way around that is (either in Safe Mode or before removing the old board) to switch the driver for the controller to a Standard Dual Controller. Then when you bring it up on the new board switch it back to what it detects. Most everything else will redetect and one or two items may require manual driver install. Done it many times.
