What do I need to do to keep my engine running another 100K miles??? Its a '90 4WD PU with 167000 miles. Valves were adjusted at about 70000, plugs and wires replaced 2 or 3 times, but no other work has been done. I assume it is time to replace the timing chain. But what else?

What about the water pump? With that many miles on the rig.

Do a leakdown and compression test for the heck of it, so you've got some baseline numbers in the future. Yep, time for TC maintenance.

I would suggest the injectors getting cleaned, but if you're gas mileage is still okay, and you're not having a hard start first thing, they're still fine (leaking injectors depressurize the fuel rail).

Clean your MAF and T'body. The articles for the 3.0 for this stuff is similar; up in the Yota section above.

You're are probably due for a timing chain replacement - I would pull the valve cover to make sure your guides are there. If they are and you're not hearing it 'slap' around then you are OK for the time being.

In addition to that you will want to replace the water pump, and refill with fresh Toyota Coolant.
