(Big Jim down on his knees) Thank you Lord for keeping me ignorant of such matters! I know nothing of these and please don't allow me to learn. Big JIm <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

sure wouldn't hurt to get heat into the cabin faster but i thought the real issue was the oil being too cold to crank the engine over, no?

Texas isn't exactly a cold region! It's time for the mountain, northern tier, and Canadian folks to advise.

wow now that you mention it ive never seen a oil pan blanket (except on semis), maybe because we have oil that still flows well in cold temperatures

When I was in Wisconsin, I had a freeze plug pulled and a heating element put in to warm the coolant in the block. It kept the block warm which kept the oil warm.
The tranny was a different story. Sure learned to park in the gear I was going to use first.

-24*C here lately... that block heater is the ticket. they come stock in most vehicles up this way. -24 isn't all that cold when it hits -30 without the wind chill. BigJim we have an extra bed up here if ya wanna enjoy the powder for a bit.
