I just found this thread. How fun! My 1990 Montero odometer says 318,000. But, my ex had it turned back when I first bought it in 93 with 60,000 and I don't remember by how much. I think about 7 - 8,000. The engine has had some work, but not a rebuild, just timing belt and gaskets. Tranny has had work, too but not a rebuild. I use it on my daily commute of 70 miles RT and for fun. I used to tow my '73 21' Airstream with it, but admittedly, it was a struggle up hills. I also used it as a work horse when I remodeled my former house, once having to put 13 sheets of drywall on the roof rack and while building our adobe house, we hauled French doors on the top. Just last fall (2006) I drove it roundtrip to St. Paul Minn. through Chicago, with my dog for company. When I got hit by a speeding semi-truck on I-40 eastbound in Missouri, I was able to continue my trip with damage on my bumper & rear 1/4 panel and both my dog & walked away without being hurt. I LOVE this car!
