EZ Locker (lunchbox) not installed (though it is broken)
[Linked Image]

EZ Locker installed. The "lunchbox" is a light grey color, and the carrier and ring gear are a darker grey (everything around the locker)
[Linked Image]

Lunchbox lockers replace the spider gears in a differential. Spider gears are what allow the differetiation of speed and torque transfer between the two wheels.

Here is an ARB locker. It replaces the carrier as well as the spider gears, and is selcetable via air.

Brown, for some reason, I can't view any of your pictures. I can see pictures posted by others - what do I need to do for these?

Dude, nothing's working.

I just changed the bio and it didn't help. But, before I made the changes, I was able to see pictures posted on "New Guy for Jeep." But nothing else. Maybe it is something with my computer.

Ok so you have all 3 questions about pictures punched to the YES box? Then did you click the SAVE box before leaving?

The problem is with my internet filter. I can see Easy Share jpg pictures and some others but nothing from Photobucket - isn't that the source of your pictures? And some others. To see Photobucket photos, I will have to call my filter provider and have Photobucket unblocked.

What? Are you using 2 bean cans and a string to get to the provider? I never heard of certain photos not coming thru..

BigJim, you do have a way with words. My day is starting out right!

It is not quite that primitive - I have a Christian filter provider to block out certain things at the subserver level. The filter is a little broad and sometimes blocks things that don't really need to be blocked, but I don't mind, err on the side of caution.

I'm not positive that it is Photobucket, but when I try to access that site I am blocked so I assume there is a connection. I'm going to call them and see. Hopefully, after work I can check out the pictures.

By the way, I now have a 48" farm jack and two 30' recovery straps.

Please allow me to give you a final warning about that farm jack. In the hands of the unwary it can be very dangerous to both man and material.
First off there are very few points on a Jeep that can take the weight of the vehicle being jacked up, if any!!
Secondly the jack can lift almost 4 feet.. So when lifted the vehicle is usually a 3 legged monster.. with 2 wheels off the ground and a 4 foot jack holding it up...in the mud..on a slope.. the jack tends to lean to one side or another and the vehicle falls..hopefully not on anything of value. Todays vehicles all come with screw type jacks that are intended to lift the frame of the vehicle..
Back in MY DAY vehicles came with bumper jacks and bumpers that would take the weight of the vehicle when lifted. The farm jack was just a stronger jack that could be used..
So you and your rider should fool around with that jack and learn how to use as a come along.. As it can be quite useful for getting a vehicle unstuck. However one must practise a bit before attempting the procedure and more attaching chains/ropes may be needed than you are presently carrying.

Wow, ISP's to Hi Lifts?

The real answer is to poop on LSD's they have any number of bad driving problems. Like they do nothing when you want them to, they spin you around on ice, clutch types wear out, gear types (trulack)have to "see" spin before binding and doing anything, on ice it could be horrible, on rocks, they don't make up their minds as to working or not.

OK, ez lockers...they are DIY junk the ez is the cheapest junk of all the box lunches and none work well in a front axle. The die hard anti ARB crowd will tell you the LB lockers in front axles are fine...otherwise save your nickles and dimes for arbs F&R. Toss the d35 first, get a nice d44 or 8.8.

I lived the D35 dream, Sheared the axle spline right at the case and pieces of it took an adventure through the spider gears, wasn't pretty.

Jim, a real case where the perfect d35 actually broke, heck that must be the first one ever.

Yeah, I use photobucket.

Glad to see you got some of the basics Wrangirl. 2 30' straps might have been a little overboard, but it can't hurt. Now are those straps recovery straps or tow straps? Recovery straps don't have hooks, but loops on the ends, and have a higher breaking strength.

BJ is right about the jack. Get well aquainted with it before you ever have to use it on uneven terrain. Even on level ground it will want to lean to the left or right if you don't place it properly. And don't keep any part of your body between the jack and jack handle while using it.

When do you plan on taking your trip Wrangirl?
