I pulled the timing cover today to find the drivers side bottom timing chain tension guide bolt broken. This is the second time it has broken. The first time, I put a balance shaft elimination kit in it. I got a replacement bolt from Napa. Does this bolt need to be graded or am I doing something wrong when I put the tension guide on?
The motor jumped timing, I pulled the head and all four pistons have indentations from were the intake valves were hitting them. The head gasket and fuel pump were leaking oil. I haven't had the head tested yet, though I don't see any cracks. I read FastEddy's head replacement writeup so I am go when the head is ready to be put back on. After reading the posts on heads, I will probably put a Clearwater or caravan head on.
My other question is, do I need the catalytic converter? My old one is plugged. Anything else I need to do while I have the motor out. I am going to put a new clutch in it also.

Thanks, Nate
