Getting the Wheeling Fever
Pray Tell, What hose did you use and where did you find it. I find that when it gets very hot my clutch dosent disengage as well.
Good luck
John

Hose? You can't use hose unless it's a flexible brake line
with a rigid core. Flexible stainless hose is built like an accordian. It will expand. Any expansion with standard hose will negate the force necessary to move the clutch. The formed steel lines don't have that issue so they're really the best choice.

got all parts from American Street Rod( http://www.amstreetrod.com./CatalogIndex.php4 ).
hose i used is is -4AN flexible stainless braided hose made by/for ASR.... for brake or clutch use. i used info from the following thread in determining the parts. but the tech line at ASR was very helpful also.

http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...p;amp;sb=5&o=186&fpart=1

Also, i separated the trans from the motor tonight. sure enough, there appears to be no pilot bushing in the 3.4L i installed. or, if there is one, it is larger diameter. right now i can only tell by sticking a finger in through the clutch pieces and into back of the motor. will know more when i get a little daylight time to work on this. i went ahead and got the $60 harbor freight tranny jack.....made removal a whole lot easier than the last time.

fitted new clutch pack from CAP this past weekend. that fixed the problem i was having.

fyi: none of the old parts looked worn/damaged though. so i still do not quite understand what was wrong. maybe i'll post pics of the old parts later and somebody will see something. the clutch plate center piece(that the trans shaft fits through) is positioned differently on the newer plate. thats about the only thing i noticed. the stainless line works well. but i cannot say it has the same 'solid' feel as the oem setup. i may go back to that.

also, i had initially tried installing only a pilot bushing to see if that set things right. nope. only wasted time.

well, i can go back to looking for the cause of the 3.4L motor's tapping sound now <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

ok, here is a pic of the old and the new clutch plate assemblies. one on the left is the old one. the position of its center piece is different from the one of the new clutch plate. could that have been causing the problems i was having?
