EB, they rent these nifty tow-behind boom man lifts, with a bucket. Ride up in style to 30' and use a rope pull off the back bumper (LONG rope) to pull the crowns out the way you want then to fall. I think you know what cutting a hinge means...

>>>*That is what my brother said, and there is a place in Newport that rents them, one rig they have is a truck with a boom and bucket on the back. Easy 30' and maybe more.

The bad part is being in the bucket, when cutting Alder I always plan an escape route since I know they like to split and head odd directions. I will just get up there and take her down in little pieces I guess.

They are also heavy leaners so I should just hire it done so I don't have to listen to the wife. There is one guy up here that trims and cuts trees, we had him do the huge Poplars we have here in Warren. He was up there for 4 hours, charged $350. I was floored, I expected 5 times that. In Newport the one guy that does it says $1000 per tree and he doesn't change expression..Since we have about 30 to lay down I think I will cut them myself....*EB
