Le' and I are up at the Warren house, that is where our roof got torn off. I got it all gathered up and stacked, too cold and wet to try and fix it right now. I figure that job will wait for me nicely.
Instead we are remodeling this house to get it ready for resale or something, not sure what we will do in this market.
Maybe just continue to farm the place?
I want to move the Z down to Newport, we have the center garage bay almost ready except for some trees on the other side of the yard that are Alder and lean way out...right at that garage.
I had this vision of coming out and finding one of those trees on top of my Vette. So they gotta go.
Anybody local that wants to come out and shinny up some trees and do some cutting? I was going to climb up there myself but the wife threw a conniption fit at the idea.
She is still nervous ever since I took that little header off the roof last Summer....*EB

EB, they rent these nifty tow-behind boom man lifts, with a bucket. Ride up in style to 30' and use a rope pull off the back bumper (LONG rope) to pull the crowns out the way you want then to fall. I think you know what cutting a hinge means...

Trust me Ted, you wouldn't find a Toyota emblem on a vehicle under my control <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Easy 30' and maybe more. The bad part is being in the bucket, when cutting Alder I always plan an escape route since I know they like to split and head odd directions. I will just get up there and take her down in little pieces I guess. They are also heavy leaners so I should just hire it done so I don't have to listen to the wife. There is one guy up here that trims and cuts trees, we had him do the huge Poplars we have here in Warren. He was up there for 4 hours, charged $350. I was floored, I expected 5 times that. In Newport the one guy that does it says $1000 per tree and he doesn't change expression..Since we have about 30 to lay down I think I will cut them myself....*EB

I used to run a tree trimming/removal business...just me and a bud. I loved using my spurs and going up into the big trees. Had another friend with a big bucket truck, and MAAAN is that nice. I almost felt safer out in the tree though...you kinda feel trapped in that bucket.
That was back in '96-'97, and around here it was EASILY 1k per tree in town. We just had the people get a couple estimates, and we would do the job for half of the highest bid <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.
