"but are they tough enough to handle all the rough stuff in the toughest conditions on off road.... "

Not sure on the last part where you say "on off road"... do you mean "on AND off road"?? If so, then on road yes, but off road depends on where you go and how you drive (not to mention how the vehicle is equipped.. i.e., lockers, winch, lift, etc., etc.

No vehicle is bullet proof off road. If you want something that is "tough enough to handle all the rough stuff in the toughest conditions", then YOU need to build a vehicle that will suit YOUR needs....

I don't mean to sound rude, but only you can decide how tough a vehicle you will need.... snorkel for river crossings?, lift to overcome clearance issues?, gearing to navigate rocks?, mud tires or all terrain tires?

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.... only you can determine what is right for you, but as mentioned above, those vehicles will do you well with the modifications you decide on (unless you plan on getting to the top of a mountain, then a goat would be better suited).
