Need a Spot
I'm baffled i looked at the power antenna but i can't find a short. I'm just wondering if anyone has a 96-2002 4runner if they could pull there dome fuse and see if there radio plays, that might help me look into the radio being the culprit or defective from factory.
on saturday i pulled my dome fuse reinstalled the factory system and i couldn't get the radio to play with the fuse out so i'm wondering if that is normal on the dome fuse circuit. again thanks for your help....

Did they remove the little factory amp behind the radio when they installed the new one?
Also, is your HU a pioneer? If so, it runs on the opposite voltage of Toyota, so if the orange and white wire is hooked up, unplug it. (dimmer wire).
since i have amps, for the power antenna, i installed a switch to bring it up and down, i tapped the ACC wire so teh antenna will always go down when the power is off, but when it's on i can make it go up or down.

hi thanks for the reply.
no i have the wire harness running off the amp harness,I also am running amps so the small amp is not used. the head unit is a double din jvc. i'm not useing the dimmer wire the power anntenna is ran off the amp remote turn on(blue wire)I was also thinking of a switch for the antenna did you use a simple on/off switch like like a fog light switch?
thanks for help.
also did you have problems with yours or is this just something you did?

i blew a fuse when i hooked up the dimmer wire.
Also i had unwanted noise in the sub when i plugged it in.
The power antenna i just used a normal on off switch. It doesnt have enough drain on it to warrant a relay, with power on, it stays up, with power down, it goes down.
In the 80's toyota trucks you could actually get a power antenna switch if you want to keep it factory looking.

Even if you werent using amps, i'd still take out the factory one and leave it with the factory deck, the wiring harness only hooks up to the wiring that plugs into the amp anyways (the amp wiring wont connect to your deck/adaptor as you probably know)

I am geting some battery drain now, dont know what exactly it is, might be a combination of my scangauge and a dieing battery... dont know for sure...i know a few people on yotatech have had problems with their 3rd gen's a few years ago, maybe try searching there. dont remember this topic coming up here....

The factory spec is for parasitic draw is to be under 50 milli amps.. If you lift one of the battery leads and insert your VOM in series while on the milli amp scale, you can see what you draw is..

But sounds like you may have licked the problem based on the 10 hour measurements....
