How well does the auto trans hold up to bigger tires?

Getting the Wheeling Fever

I have been told that the trooper auto trans is stout enough for up to 33's without much worry. I have also been told that they are very prone to owner neglect due to the lack of dipstick for quick fluid checks. Along that line I understand the concern over lack of maintanance history...
