Got the springs this morning from dave. so I immediately ripped into it. taking the old springs out is pretty easy.

here is a photo of the old and new.
[Linked Image]

the new springs are a real pain to compress, I was using some coil spring compressors from harbor freight, had it all together and realized I did not align the bolts on top to go into the upper mount, so had to compress them all over. Got it aligned and then I was reversing the coil spring compressor and it froze up, I was able to get it off, but it kinda ruined my project for the time being! so I guess I get a little break until the wife gets home
so I can run to harbor freight!

the other side is all ready to go, to the point where I need the spring compressor. You can remove the old springs without one by un-bolting the strut nut and lowering the a-arm down with a floor jack, it will release all the tension and you can then take the spring out, did it that way 4 times now, no issues. but you still have to be very careful and respect how much tension is in that spring!

anyway, here is a few more pics. 1st one is a shot of the stock spring, and the 2nd is the RSG spring. The truck was flat on the ground and the truck was moved before taking the pictures, so the suspension would level out.

Here is a picture of the rsg spring nestled in its new home.

And here is 1 more shot, of the front kit I ordered from dave. so far so good.! I will be happy once its over!

here is the update! Got the new coil spring compressors (harbor freight just swapped em no questions asked, I like that!)

My lower control arm bolts were frozen in place, so I did NOT removed the whole assembly. Instead I unbolted the fork from the strut, bolted the assembly at the top with the 3 bolts/nuts. and THEN re-assembled the fork to the strut. it didn't go exactly as easy as I just made it sound, but it wasn't too bad.

here are some more pictures

I should mention too that in the picture all I have on the top of the strut is 1 washer , no rubber spacers, I did later install them, but I barely had enough thread with the single washer but it worked and I was able to get it in the re and once the weight of the vehicle was on the springs I took that nut and washer off and assembled it the right way. worked great, did this on both sides.

here is a shot of the fork dis-assembled, it was a huge pain just to get that one side off, the lower fork bolt would NOT budge. but you can see in the pic the strut assembly hanging there from the 3 bolts.

This shot shows how I held the forks together while getting the first bolt in place, getting it together was a much bigger pain than dis-assembly do to a little bit of pressure on the forks. the first bolt was fairly easy to get back in , the other 3 were a pain.

Here is a shot after I got it done, yea its dark outside but you can still see it ok, the front is now a little higher than the rear, not a huge amount but its a bit higher than the spacer lift.

What did you do with your Eibach springs and the spacers?

IMO The Front springs (from Eibach) seem to be better than the RSG Front springs.

The back of the rsg springs are better than TJ and of course Eibach!!!!!!!!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Again IMO <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I never had eibachs. I had the spacers with stock springs. The ride probably will be a little stiffer with these springs, but will find out today!

the rear I have no spacer , just the TJ springs, which might be making it sit a tad lower in the back. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />

I think the ride is a little stiffer, but totally acceptable. the rear is lower, but hardly noticeable my driveway is a little deceiving as it slants away from the house (good thing!)

thanks! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
