I have never run the RSG springs in the rear, so I can't help on the comparison. although for what I have into everything I should have just bought dave's lift from the beginning!

as far as tires, I am running 30 x 9.50 x 15 . they are retreaded tires. They used a triple sidewall bfgoodrich A/T carcass, and AT's usually run a little shorter than the specified height. so with the tire being retreaded its about 29.5 inches tall. I have no complaints on power or anything else as of now with these tires.

like I stated before, mine was a pain to get together due to the lower fork bolt not coming out, this would have helped a lot, but I got it together so thats the most important thing.

I am happy to be lifted again, and I like the RSG springs up front.

at full flex in the rear, the TJ springs I have are at about there max extension. with a jack under the frame, the TJ coil on the drivers side is loose, so I know there is still room for more lift.

I don't have any issues with the tj's though, they ride really well.

Dave, yes i ran the MPV springs, unfortunately I did not document my results very thoroughly, it was kinda just a coincidence that i had some MPV springs so I used them.

I took a picture of my ride when I had the Eibach springs in front plus a 3/4" spacer on top of the springs in front, and then the MPV springs in the rear. I think this setup for the front was probably close to the amount of lift as the RSG front lift, but the rear was pretty high, maybe too high. Here you can see how it looked:

The other problem was the MPV springs were a little too stiff. They rode very rough. I probably would not choose to use them again unless as a last resort. They did flex up pretty well though offroad, but the ride was pretty bad on the road.

Jaybur do you have any body lift?

I forgot to take that into account when lookin at those pics.

If you don't have a body lift, then I'm gonna say the RSG front lift is probably higher than the lift I had on my old Sporty.

Nice...that is good news. I like the looks of your results so far. I do not want to do a body lift this time. For my taste, if I wanted to go more extreme I would rather start saving up for a front and rear axle swap. At any rate, I found that in my own experience, the type of offroading I do did not require more lift than what I had before, in fact i could have gotten by with a bit less lift and been fine. Anyway I'm excited by your results smile

Oh jaybur I forgot to ask, do you have a manual or auto transmission? I hear that makes a difference. 31" tires are more of a hassle with stick shift than they would be with automatic. The slippage of the torque converter helps you get those big wheels rollin'. With my stick shift sporty and 31" tires, it was sometimes a bit hard to get going off the line.

It's just unfortunate though, I feel like 30" tires will work better for me, but it's so tempting to go with 31" tires because they look AWESOME on the sportage...

I am in the process of looking for a dana 44 out of a scout, there is a few around here locally so if I can get a good deal I'll go that route, the gears will be useless so thats why I need a steal of a deal on one. I don't have the funds to do sas right now, and may never do it, have to see how things go. At least with a dana 44 I could have a locker in the rear and that would get me much further than how its set up now.

doesnt matter how far you go with an off road project, you could always do more or go bigger. and when you get the sportage maxed out there will still be places it wont go.

make it how you want it and what you need and don't worry about what anyone else is doing. The problem with getting too involved with what others are doing, is you will lose interest in the project, do things one way then find out someone else did something different, so now you change it, and the cycle goes on and on.

my dad was building an off road only toy based on a old bronco frame, tube body, tons of time and money thrown at it, and he hasn't touched it in 3 years, a friend of his who was helping kept getting him to change his set up based on others , and I guess the constant changing made him dis-like it.

my dad lives in MN and we havnt spoken for 2 years, but if we were he'd probably give me a deal on his ford 9" rear that locked and has disc brakes Oh he also has a set of 42" tall implement tires (tractor style) with 5x5.5 custom steel rims.. (I'd love to mount those on the sporty just for a picture !! )

has 2 302 motors, a brand new efi kit for 1 of them. a built up c4 trans, the list goes on and on. that would be fun to put lots of his parts into the kia. but not gonna happen..

The Eibach springs are to soft. Even with my spacers my 31s hit the top of the fender when I get a little to crazy off road. I would like a set of RSG springs but I want a do do a SAS more. I can't see spending money on springs when I want to change the whole setup some day.

Well I'm gonna try the RSG lift on my own Sportage, I also have the Upyourkia front spacers and TJ rear springs but I have something else in mind for those... My Mom has been wanting one of those little 4x4 golf cart type things that are so popular now, but those frickin things are really expensive!

We were noticing we could get a 2 door Sportage for like $2500 bucks in good shape! We're thinking of getting one of those instead and I'll put the Upyourkia spacers and Tj springs on that one!

So for that one we're lookin for a 2 door with automatic transmission and we'll lift it and put on 30" mudders and it will be our rig for dorkin around at my Mom's mountain house!
