leading edges of the fenderwell insides were trimmed.

This was what i was questioning, i already plan on taking my bumper stops off so i'm not worried about that. But the fenderwells? Like the lower end of the fender? Near the bumpstop on the front i assume?

How much should i take off, or do you think it would be fine if i drove my SUV home and then trimmed em once the tires were on?

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the splash shield that's at the very front of both front wheelwells, right squarely in front of the front tires. It's a little shield that sticks down. I just pushed mine forward with my hand and they were go to go. You can put the tires on and drive around before doing that. I didn't notice that this needed to be done on mine until I was in the midst of doing a trail and was under heavy flex.

Edit: What exactly is different from the 4cyl to v6 brakes?

Basically, here's the differences between your's (an 87) and later front brakes:

rotor diameter
87 - 10"
89-91 V6 - 10.9"

calipers
87 - V-groove slider
88-91 - pin-type slider

caliper brackets
larger on the 89-91 V6 to accommodate the bigger rotors

rotor dust shields
larger on the 89-91 V6

V6 brake booster and master cylinder gives more volume and pressure

And I can only get it from a junkyard, or a parted out vehicle right?

The booster/master cylinder, brackets, and dust shields are best found at a junkyard. I don't know if you can get those new (or want to pay the price if new). The calipers and rotors can be gotten new from many places. I've gotten them from Pep Boys and NAPA. You would likely have a core charge for the calipers, so if you can grab those for just a couple bucks off a junkyard rig it might be worth it.
