leading edges of the fenderwell insides were trimmed.

This was what i was questioning, i already plan on taking my bumper stops off so i'm not worried about that. But the fenderwells? Like the lower end of the fender? Near the bumpstop on the front i assume?

How much should i take off, or do you think it would be fine if i drove my SUV home and then trimmed em once the tires were on?

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the splash shield that's at the very front of both front wheelwells, right squarely in front of the front tires. It's a little shield that sticks down. I just pushed mine forward with my hand and they were go to go. You can put the tires on and drive around before doing that. I didn't notice that this needed to be done on mine until I was in the midst of doing a trail and was under heavy flex.

Edit: What exactly is different from the 4cyl to v6 brakes?

Basically, here's the differences between your's (an 87) and later front brakes:

rotor diameter
87 - 10"
89-91 V6 - 10.9"

calipers
87 - V-groove slider
88-91 - pin-type slider

caliper brackets
larger on the 89-91 V6 to accommodate the bigger rotors

rotor dust shields
larger on the 89-91 V6

V6 brake booster and master cylinder gives more volume and pressure

For reference see:

EDIT:

And I can only get it from a junkyard, or a parted out vehicle right?

The booster/master cylinder, brackets, and dust shields are best found at a junkyard. I don't know if you can get those new (or want to pay the price if new). The calipers and rotors can be gotten new from many places. I've gotten them from Pep Boys and NAPA. You would likely have a core charge for the calipers, so if you can grab those for just a couple bucks off a junkyard rig it might be worth it.

I essentually get anything that fits "89 6 Cyl Base"? The price for all of that really isn't bad (350ish), i'd probably consider doing that.

Do you think that may be a good idea?

If you have the money and are ready to spend it go for it. You will also be getting parts in better shape (usually at least).

Yea, with a new motor put in it, and nearly everything mechanical besides the carb replaced. I feel that maybe just going newer, i will have a better life span on most things.

A 1989 monty in a junkyard collecting rust on everything and paying a good chunk of money for all the parts if i am lucky to even find them doesn't sound like the greatest idea in a few years. XD

I thought the front bumper looked better with just the middle section left, so i removed them completely. this is the final result (i think it looks good, but it's a completely ineffective bumper for front corner protection):

I wouldn't write off the junkyard option. Trucks don't spend that much time in junkyards before they're crushed for scrap. Sure they're sitting outside in the few weeks/months they're there, but most people keep they're vehicles outside anyway, so what's the diff? Couple of advantages IMHO. One, you get extra practice--removing the components from the junkyard truck, and then again on removing your old junk. Of course, this only applies to pick-n-pull yards, as opposed to the ones where they pull it. Two, I'd bet you'd get it for half the price. If you decide to go that way, just visit the yards until you find a nice clean one. Shouldn't take long, V6's pop up all the time.

Ditto. I've gotten LOTS of parts from the junkyard, and I put them through some serious punishment. Most are good for re-use. And those that aren't can sometimes be used for core-returns if the price is right.

I get a lot more flex than that with mine. So much so that every time I have gone wheeling with Jeep drivers over the last year or so, they all comment on how much flex I have given that I have IFS. One of these days I'll have to measure it. No, it doesn't flex as much as a solid axle front end, but it's more than your standard unmodified Gen I.

Bear in mind that I don't have a swaybar installed and I've made some modifications to my front suspension.

But even back before that, I still had some flex up front.

Yea. Its not to bad. After we put the rear locker in went to try it out on a loading dock backed it up and stuffed a front tire and started lifting the other . Not a good feeling on concrete or behind Staples
