If I was really prairie-doggin' it, I might pay a buck, but it would have to be mighty clean in there for me to pay. I usually maintain enough control over my bowels than I just go at home or at work, but on the few occasions when I've been caught somewhere else around town by a vengeful burrito or whatnot, I've had no difficulty finding a restroom that was free of charge and reasonably clean. But I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case in NYC.
