The only "problem" I ever had with 2.6 head bolts was that they stretch when the head warps due to overheating. It's one of my sure diagnostics for a lbown head gasket - loose head bolts that you can remove by hand, no wrench required..

Actually that is not head bolts stretching. The bolts get blamed for that but what happens is the washers settle into the head a small amount. If you inspect the head bolt washers they distort and due to a hot area at the rear of the head they have been prone to "loose torque". I find if you pull up the torque a few times early in an engines life it will live trouble free for a long time.

hmm....that's food for thought. the few and far between g54b enthusiasts i know in my neck of the woods swear by them. One of my friends has nothing but issues warping heads and when he switched to the mls gasket and arp studs, has not had a single issue since.
i figured for $100 instead of $40 for stock head bolts, it was cheap insurance to prevent more top end damage and less time wrenching.
