The Turbo is spinning up and is not sloppy (a huge relief) but does anyone know if it could be the EGR? how would i fix that? I would like to investigate that before pulling the rad and everything to redo the timing belt

Your'e most probably looking at fuelpump issues, I had a similar problem with a 2.4 Toyota and ended up replacing some seals on the pump. There is also one filter unmentioned that is located inside the pump, to check it out you have to remove the steel pipe that feeds it. It goes in on the front of the pump and straight down. Loosen the nut and watch out for the 2 copper washers and then pull out the pipe. Deep down there should be a little steel filter wich you can fish out with some solid electrical wire or a skinny screwdriver.
If you have a cold start thingie that could also be playing with the timing advance on the pump leading to loss of power.

If it was your belt, the vehicle would be dead.

Truck runs but with no power, plenty of smoke?
I'm thinking head gasket. Blown. Or head. Cracked.
Any progress?

I'm still gathering and troubleshooting. Come friday night I will start to pull apart the truck to figure out what went wrong. The truck was puking blue smoke not white so I'm thinking its not the head. the part #'s that I've gotten off here for the timing and balance belt a traced back to a 4D55. does this make sense?

A blown headgasket usually results in coolant loss, either speewing it out or inside the cylinders resulting in a big bang and something very expensive.

Ripped the engine bay apart over the weekend and got down to the timing/balance belts. The timing belt must have slipped (Cam timing out) but the balance belt looks fine other than being loose. I'll be replacing the tensioners, all belts and the hoses/thermostat while I'm at it.. good old "might as well" syndrome.
I'll post some pics once she's back together.
