alright I'm currently on a different forum in a debate with someone over rear toyota axles. I'm currently working on a 2 wheel drive Chevy LUV with a 327 in it. I want to upgrade the rear to a 8" yota rear. I figure with 1 5/16 axles and a 8" ring gear, factory 4.10s and a wide aftermarket selection I cant go wrong. This guy seems to disagree. I have been in the offroad world for 15 years now and seen the abuse toyota rears can withstand. One of his complaints is that the gear set will blow up with any substantial hp. Now of course I wouldn't run 600 hp and a decnt size slick to a favctory setup but I dont see why the stock toyota 8" wouldn't hold up to 400-4500 hp and a 28x12 slick. What I'm curious over is what the diameter of the stock 4.10 pinion shaft (79-85) is along with the stock v-6 4.10 pinion shaft diameter. Does anybody know of a link with actual torque ratings for stock axle shafts, gear sets, etc. Once again, Im talking rear axles only, not front, thanks
