I now have a 1989 4-Door Monty with a blown motor (crank shaft bolt not coming out), as well as a 1989 2-Door Raider with a blown transfer case. Both trucks are otherwise mint.

Is the 89 transfer case from the Auto tranny the same as the one from the 89 stick shift?

I also have an 88 5-Speed Raider for parts, ... will that transfer case work on a 1989 V6?

Does the motor from an 89 V6 5-Speed swap directly into the 89 V6 Automatic tranny?

How hard is it to switch an automatic truck into a 5-speed?

Fun when they R working!

Thanks ...

I'm extremely interested in 1989 Dodge Raider V6 "For Sale", ... let me know if you have a Canadian truck that needs a new home, any condition.

V6 and 4-cyl trans and t-case are different. You should be able to swap the engines around, being aware of the different plates that mount the bellhousing to the block. I'd leave the automatic in and work with it, but if you want to convert, you'll just have to move all the pieces from one truck to the other...wire looms, trans cross member, etc.

Only the bellhousings are different between automatic transmissions. Auto, and manual transfer cases are also different.

I was really hoping that the V6 auto transfer case was going to fit the 5-speed.

What's a transfer case worth? What other vehicles share that transfer case? Anybody got one?

Looks like I need to buy one more 1989 V6 Dodge Raider FOR SALE ... let me know if you see any Candian VIN numbers up for grabs.

Thanks again ...

There is also one listed for sale in B.C., but that's a really long drive from Smackdab, Ontario.

I'm now leaning towards going out and buying something brand new. The "what to drive after Monty?" channel is in very good "timing".
