Frontier and US Air will get you to Denver for about $300. There are ground shuttles from DEN to Vail, etc., for about $50 (well, used to be $50 about two years ago). Saves about $150.

Or, fly into SLC on USAir for about $270, rent a car for the week and drive through the San Rafeal Swell and Grand Junction (Moab?) for some scenery. I think Grand Junction to SLC used to take me about 5 hours.
