Yeah, I'd love to do that, but my brothers and I already have a rough-draft of a plan for the trip. They're not really into wheeling (<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />) so it's gonna basically be a cultural visit, and one of my brothers is going to be the tour-guide (he's been there quite a bit).

Good idea about flying into either Denver or SLC.

... What airport are you selecting as flying into?

Heck, during those dates I don't believe I'll be in the UK yet, so if I'm not out of state, fly into Denver and I might be able to drive you to Eagle. I won't be working (after 01/31 I'll be going on a several-month sabbatical) and it's a nice drive. smile

Wow, that's mighty kind of you to offer. I may just take you up on that.

I'm also seriously considering just driving up. I really do enjoy driving the S4 (just not off road) and long trips like this are fine by me. Besides this would be a great "shakedown" run especially through the NV desert. I've also got tons of music and about 4-5 new books on CD (unabridged of course) that I can listen to which will keep me awake for the trip. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> (xmas presents! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />)

Thanks for everyone's feedback! Just have to figure out what I'm gonna do now.

Can you go from SFO or OAK? PITA, but may save you some $$$$ (haven't checked though, just a suggestion).

Damn, that sucks... You know, like Les said, the days of $99 flights are gone (expect for internet fares on southwest for a single-leg trip), but the prices you are getting are definitely high. If you were going to FL, it would be a spring break price, but Colorado for spring break?

oh yeah, and one more thing, if you book that flight on one of travelocity, expedia, et al., it is best to get the detailed info for the fare, find the fare code and then go to the carriers site and try and get that same fare code. If that doesn't work, then you can call them and give them specifically that code and try and get the reservation.

Reason being is it will save you the $10 or so bucks to the website and increases your chances of actually getting a seat. All flights can be oversold, since the carries expect a 20% no-show (I know that is ridic...), but the chances of getting a ticket with no seat are higher when you use those sites. They just don't have all the correct info..

And, out of curiosity, either use a different browser or clear your cookies and try again on, say, travelocity. The status of your cookies can affect the price they offer you. Not always for the worst, though, so it is better to try it with a different browser without a cookie for those sites.

Travelocity is known for showing a slightly higher fare the second time you do a search, since odds are you are coming back to book that flight.

Naw, drive the rig...we'll go wheeling! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

In fact, on your way back we could drive to Moab for a couple days of wheeling! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Have you checked Skybus? 10 seats for $10 on each flight, and crazy cheap airfare after that too.

Odds are they don't fly from or to the cities you want though. It always works out that way. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

You're travelling on a Saturday and a Friday. Shoot for a Tues-Thurs travel days if you're still on the fence about a road trip.
