IÆve been having problems with lash adjuster tick/tap.

The truck was stood for 3 months, but is now back on the road, but I have a tick/tap. On cold start there is the usual (for my truck) tick which goes away very quickly. After about 2 minÆs it comes back, then gets louder, sounds like a bag of loose spanners.
I got a local shop to change oil & filter (genÆ Mitsu), & check oil pressure,
Pressure results, mid 20Æs psi @ 1000rpm & mid 40Æs psi @ 3000.
I did ask for pressure readings @ 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 & 3500 but I only got the 2 above.

Shop foreman said I need to replace the lash adjusters in both heads and has quoted ú385 ($750) to do the job.

IÆve tried revving the engine to 3000rpm/idle..repeat..repeat as per the Mitsu manual a number of times, I lost count, sounded like the tick had gone. Drove around the block & it was back. I will try a lifter flush oil additive tonight & see how that goes.

Questions:
Could the problem be elsewhere? Difficult to say I know butààààààoffers

Is replacing the VLAÆs a job for a novice, like me? Yes another difficult one.

I have a Haynes manual + others from the net etc & it looks not too bad. Is the tool to hold the VLAÆs in place while removing the rocker assembly essential? One lost VLA down an oil passage & IÆm toast, along with the engine.
