This thing is awesome. I just worked on it today and changed the oil, plugs, cleaned the t.b., and slapped some 18's on it. It looks like a rally car with the wheels. Let me know how much you want for the motor and I can come out and get it from ya. This thing revs way high and I found it will go to 30 in 1st and 60 in second and stopped after that.

I want to see some pictures of the 18's. I just ordered a set of 14's for mine and was wishing I'd waited a little longer when I walked out the door.

Not sure if the DOHC engine is going up for sale yet. The wife is talking about putting it and the automatic in a sand buggy for her. (Yea, like I'm going to get time to build that in my life time.) You see, I made the mistake of aquiring a spare wiring harness and with the old ecm and auto tranny from the diesel it would make a killer sand car.
I'll give you first call on the motor when we make up our minds to sell though.
I agree, that DOHC rocked. I was doing donuts in the back pasture before I pulled it. My step son was with me and I almost had him wetting his pants. And this kid is a drag racer. You'd think he be used to doing crazy stuff like that! Anyway, that engine is a screamer. Can't imagine what it would be like turboed.

Let's Turbo yours!

I'm looking for a set of those rear disc brakes for mine. If you find some for yours, plan on bringing it up here to put them on. I can do a much better job that what the guy on the link did to his. A little too much Shade Tree for me. But hey, it worked for him.

I'll be regearing at least two of the 5 speeds to better gear ratio combinations for the diesel. That ought to be interesting!

Gotta get to work.

Later,

Oh and BTY, I am registered at Isuzu Zone as Turbo Trooper.
Did that last year sometime because of the wifes Trooper. Must have been a brain fart.
I posted the I Mark Conversion on the Projects Forum last night.

I will try and shoot pics tomorrow of the 18's on that beast. I am in the process of changing the rear brake shoes and all I can say is . I beat the crap out of my drums trying to get them off as referred by the isuzone and they didnt . Seems that there is a dust cup you have to take off then pull the spindle nut then hammer . I took everything off and got frustrated with the wife calling and a guy I was buying a jeep from so I left it at my shop and will finish tomorrow along with the front rotors and pads.
Hey curtis I found a 89 Turbo RS today thats in decent shape. The lady was asking $2000 and dropped it to $1500 in a matter of seconds. Just FYI if you know someone looking for a turbo RS.
Do you have any diagrams of how the three springs on the drums go and their location?? Isuzone was no help at all with this.

I have the Shop and ELectrical Manuals for the 88-89 I Marks. But, they're at home, and I'm at the office now.
Odd, I had them with me yesterday!
I'l be in the shop this weekend, if you get time, give me a call. I'm wrapping up the I Mark diesel conversion. Wiring in some gauges and driving light for those early morning commutes. I'll PM you my cell #. Maybe we can hook up and I'll run you off a copy of the brakes "How To".

I'll have the I Mark off the lift by noon Saturday if you want to come out and do your rear brakes standing up!

I just laid out all my play money on a new shop toy. Or I'd be on that RS.

Funny, my wife only calls me when my hands are greasy or I'm welding a difficult part. Her timing is flawless! Then she gets mad when I call her back to see what she wanted....At least the cat stays out of the way and waits for me to come pet her.

Now that's what I'm talking about!

I like those much better than the ones I ordered.
Mine are 8 spoke 14 x 6 's

I only have one problem in my application. I can't run 40 series tires because of the pot holes out here in the country.

We learned the hard way on the Wifes Miata. She's on her third set of rims on a 8 ear old car.

I have had to rescue her for blowns tires and bent rims more than I want to count. (It get's REAL dark out here at night.)

Looking good though.

I like the way it looks but the rear needs to sit an 1" lower and I still need to roll the front fenders a little more to keep the tires out of them.

Thanks for making me feel better about only buying 14" rims for my I Mark! I know they won't rub....

So, I was thinking yesterday about your purchase of expensive rims and tires and it hit me. (Not trying to be insulting here, just wondering out loud!) Do those rims and tires double or triple the value of the I Mark???

I only paid like $800 for mine. And I have about another $800 in it, so far, converting it to Bio Diesel. And, my 4 cheap rims probably didn't cost what one of yours did! I guess! But, I should add that I have been able to justify the purchase of some really GOOD all weather performance tires because of my commute. But when does the expense justify reason?

I love mine for sure, but in reality, it's getting harder to explain sinking more money into it than it's worth on the market.
Which is really sad as the IsuzuÆs; have to be the most under rated vehicles on the planet. Ever tried to cut a Trooper or pickup frame in half? Jeeps frames come apart with a hack saw. But on an Isuzu, well, you better pack a lunch and a sawzall with plenty of spare blades! I found the answer to "Where the Beef!

You have my # when you get ready to see about adjusting the fenders for the rubbing issue.

I like the look of it a lot!

All the best,

Curtis

I believe I have $40 into it so far which includes new air filter (cone type), rear brakes, oil filter, and plugs. The wheels and tires were actually free and came off one of the cars I bought to resale so once the car is sold I get the wheels for $0 . But I will need to buy tires soon and that will set me back $560 which is darn near what I paid for the car. So total that would be $1400 or so. I dont think you will have a issue selling a diesel converted I-Mark if you decide to sell it. You going to veggie oil that thing?
