Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a check engine light. The code came back P0137. When I opened the hood there was oil all over the passenger side of the motor. I thought maybe the filter had come loose and some oil had come out, but I replaced the filter refilled the oil and cleared the code. Well 15 miles later the code and oil were both back! Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

p0137 is the rear O2 sensor the oil most likely is a leaky valve cover gasket, the O2 sensor connector might have oil all over it, one place you can check for the oil from the gasket is down from the pcv it will pool there in a pocket of the head. then get back with us.

There is a definate pool down from the PCV valve. That most likely means valve cover gasket then? If I remember correctly there is a set of instructions for changing the valve cover gasket at the top of this forum, right?

Thanks!

There have been a few occurrences of the oil filter adapter coming loose from the engine block. What you describe sounds to be more than a valve gasket leak and too sudden ....
I changed my valve gasket last summer....rather straight forward..piece of cake

use a kia or felpro gasket others are to thin, also use ultra grey rtv sealant in the corner of the cam lobes, I believe www.kiatechinfo.com will give you the locations also and torque, if you have not change the wires and plugs might want to think about doing them the same time. use anti-seize cream on the plugs.

Awesome logical deducement!!!

Just spray the O2 sensor connector with electrical degreaser and DO NOT buy another sensor.

Then take care of the Gasket issue (do not forget to change the PCV) at that point.

Do the spark plugs and wires while you are at it!!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
