I learned to do this myself and glad I did. Shops "Have" to charge this much for the time. The parts arn't that expensive , just time.
I've done my sohc so many times I could do in in my sleep. Besides the time unbolting and setting aside the accessories it's not that hard and a good learning experience.
Lots of good free advice on here, too.
I'm no mechanic and this is how I learned the guts of my Montyraider and grew a greater apprieciation for how much more H.D. it is than my past favorite The Toyotas.
