You could run the stock shocks, but if you do, you won't get as much articulation in the rear as you could with a longer shock. It's better to run the longest shock you can without the spring falling out or the shock bottoming out at full stuff.

if you only lift about 1-1.5" you can run stock shocks. with 4" the shock will top out over bumps in the road and can bounce the tire off the ground, really not good.

Mudrunner
well rears you can use the rav4 shocks, so they are available.

the problem on the front is nobody makes a longer strut assembly.

BUT you are pretty much at your max drop once the upper control arm stops the travel. if you pop off the upper control arm it will go farther down, but then your CV angles are too severe to even be usable.

with daves springs in without the upper control arm mounted, you can't turn the wheel, or at least not easily due to the cv angle.

only way around that issue is SAS. OR drop the front diff down a few inches, and make custom mounting points for the a-arms. 4" is the MAX I would run up front.

i give the stock strut a little extra room to move. see, in order to lift the front 4" the coils only need to be roughly 2-2.5" taller. the front strut already has about 4.75" of stroke, more extension than compression at stock ride height, so, by building the upper strut mount with a flat top, minus the bell-shaped area, and trimming the bumpstop to about 1/2 or 1/3 it's stock length, one can keep most of their up travel and gain about 2" down travel. to be honest, the strut, at ride height, with my 4" kit, sits only about 3/4" further extended than it would from the factory. this leaves about 4-4.5" of extension and 4.5-5" of compression measured at the top of the tire. so, no, the strut will only top-out when getting REALLY flexed-up or taking a corner WAAAYYYY too fast.

yeah, 4" is max.

BUT, a long-travel IFS set-up would also increase front wheel travel and bigger CV's would allow more angle.

someday, someday.....
