ok my baby blew up on me this monday and i wasnt too happy. seeing as i cant get a title for my red diesel d-50 i was thinkin of putting the diesel into my gray truck. would it just drop in and bolt up. the diesel is an 84 Dodge D-50 4x4 5spd and the other is 84 Dodge D-50 4x4 5spd with a 2.6 motor. the red one ran and drove fine just needs a new clutch. thanks for any help.

Check out the Ranger - Montero Diesel Swap Thread just a few posts down. There are a few of us doing th same thing but with a 2.3 from a Ranger. If you've got the Dodge sitting there it shouldn't be too hard, just swap over wiring harness, throttle linkage, etc. But if all the diesel needs is a new clutch, I'd just change that.

well see the gray ones body is better and i cant get a title for the diesel. im just trying to figure out if i can basically drop the diesel motor in without alot of mods. i was looking for a clutch last night and i found out the 2.3 and 2.6 share the same clutch. could they share the same tranny? if so i could bolt the diesel up to the 2.6 tranny and have a clutch and all. i know wiring and linkages will need work, but im just trying to find if the diesel will just bolt in.

Same tranny and clutch setup, and you should have all the wiring and whatnot to make it work between the two trucks.

so i can bolt the diesel up to the 2.6 tranny then. that is sweet man then i have two trannies. also do you think that id have to change the diffs out for the diesel or would they be ok to use the 2.6's gearing, its just a DD not a puller or offroader.
