I have clattering that sounds like it is right behind my guage cluster - it used to be I really had to listen for it, but it's becoming more pronounced lately. It's louder under load, but can be heard other times too. Not completely rhythmic either - sometimes it skips a beat.

Oil pressure is good (according to dash gauge anyway) and it uses very little oil. I've tried the 15 second rev to 3000 rpm, 15 seconds of idle fix lots of times with no results. Even tried an engine additive or two against my better judgement.

Has anyone had similar probs with this engine? Am I doing further damage by driving it this way? I don't use the Monty as a daily driver, but it our the snowy day car. I'd like to put off the repairs until the snow is done falling for the year, but not at the risk of damaging my engine.

Any ideas? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
