I am replacing my alternator and had to take off the vacuum pump from the back of it and there was oil in it. Is there supposed to be oil in it. I clean the oil up just to see the parts clearly. If there is supposed to be oil in there should I put a little clean oil in there since I wiped off all the oil that was in there. I am assuming the new alternator will not come with the vacuum pump attached. I appreciate the help. Thanks Billy

Isn't there a hose from the vacuum pump to the sump? I seem to remember on my engine that the vac pump is lubricated with engine oil. It's been awhile since I looked at it though...
