I guess ya'll are looking for a driver side drop? I have a front 44 out of a '76 Blazer, but it is a pass side drop...and needs some TLC....am looking to get rid of it for cheap.

Yeah would be good if it were Driverside. The reason for using half tone to hybrid the 9" is because the 44 and the GM 10 bolt both have slightly larger shaft dia (d44=1.31 + 19 spline, GM 10 Bolt=1.280 + 28 spline, Mitsu 9"=1.200 + 28 spline). You see so if i buy upgrade shafts I can cut them down and have them resplined to fit the mitsu diff, plus cut and respline the originals for spares. I have a friend who can write me a cnc program so that i'll never have to worrie about hard to find parts, I can just buy the chebby parts, setup the mill and run program. The 9" diff is just hella strong it'll snap it's stock shafts way before the diff blows and the 10 bolt is the other way around at least with chromoly shafts it'll blow the R&P before the shaft. I plan on cooking up a badass front axle, I'll do a writup in tech.

Lets face it chebby axles and machine shops are easier to find than Gen 2's in the junk yards

Agreed. OR, you could just put in a narrowed 60 for less time/money, methinks...Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the innovation and cool factor is top notch, but damn...

Nevertheless, I will ABSOLUTELY be waiting for that write up!

Ah, well...I will probably keep the '44 to use the outers on my '30 in the front of my Heep. I want to keep it narrow track until I can afford 1 ton running gear....either that or (as you are wanting) a couple of custom 9 inchers...say....the Tru Hi 9s.

Post a little note in this thread when you get that write up going Toasty. I don't check the Mistu section.

True hi9's are badass, i'll definate post it in here when it's underway. As for d60's they hang really low thats why guys are swapping d44 and 9" diffs into them so i'd still want to swap the diff. D60's are expensive out here usually over 1k for a front, then i still need chebby spindles to get 6 lug pattern. 10 bolts are dirt cheap i saw a complete one out of a blazer for $75 a few weeks ago. D44's aren't too bad usually around $500-600 but if i can find a good deal on a early bronco d44 i'll just regear it and swap the chebby spindles and do a diff swap later on a different axle.
