When I did the tranny swap I blew the cooler lines out with air to make sure there wasn't a clog. I have less than 500 miles on this tranny since the swap. The lines shouldn't be clogged again. And I have an external tranny cooler, the lines go into the radiator first and then the external cooler. Are you saying I should unhook the lines to the radiator? Bypassing it and only use the external cooler?

If I can't get this figured out by tonight then I am going to sell it. I am going to put it on Craigslist for 1500 but if someone offers 1000 I'd take that. Then I am going to take that money plus some other money and buy a newer Montero thats in better shape and is good to go.

If I bypass the radiator how will I know if my tranny is running hot or not? And is the radiator the problem here? Or is it the tranny? Or something else? I couldn't get ahold of pat last night.

I just found a 2000 Jimmy with the 4.3L, auto trans and 4x4 t-case. The truck is missing parts like door handles, rear end and driveline and other small parts. All the engine, tranny, t-case, computer parts are there. Truck runs and tranny/t-case work. I can buy the whole truck for 500. Engine has 143000 on it. What do you guys think about that instead of selling my Mitsu or putting another tranny in it?

I'd get a newer SR that way you get the locker and more power with less work. I'd buy your thing but you know my situation, unless you might want to trade for a tracker? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Good engine. I'm using same gen 4.3. The wiring harness will be a pain in the @ss to go through, but is documented on line if you have the patience. Computer will need flashed for operation in another vehicle without VATS. In cali the setup can be smogged if you keep all emissions equipment functional and use the factory trans. I know nothing of the t-case that's in that rig.

All that said, I'd say go for it. You can pay someone to go through the harness and flash the computer. I can put you in touch with a guy whose been doing these swaps smog legal for a while now...

Tay you work at a auto shop right don't you guys have what i think is a a infrared pyrometer you can use that to check the temps on one side of the cooler vers the other and see if its really doing its job or not, and you'll also see how hot its really getting.
