We are getting settled in our house out in Wittmann. Do any of you have a set of C/V Shafts, for a 99monty, you would part with, preferably with the boots intact. Mine are clicking up a storm the boots have been torn for months, and I have had no where to fix them till now. Or do you think new grease and boots would fix it? Or do you think I should tear it down first and see how bad the damage is in the joints.

Thanks, can't wait to hit the trails.

I know where some are, and if they are clicking they're F'd. If you get a used set even with good boots you will want to put new boots on or they'll tear right away, especially if you're running a lift.

Well, me and clay just rescued Brodie's truck, your white one Johnny. A piston went through the block. the motor is f'd, the head might be able to be salvaged, not sure yet. The good news is that it was the wooden piston though. More on this as it developes.

GAAAAR Kevin, i knew u would try to beat me to it!

My guess is the bolts for the retainer for the piston rod backed off due to wrong torque spec, or the bearing went bad and the piston was freed from the crank then came up and slapped the head then on its way down the rod hit one of the lobes on the crank shaft and pushed it out the side of the block. It is a sad day <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Oh btw... anyone know a shop here in the general phoenix area that's open on Sunday? I need a shop with a TechII scanner or equivalent to do a crank relearn procedure on my 4.3.
